Main contribution

The main contribution is an eBPF-based emulation platform capable of representing dynamic LEO constellations and evaluating transport and routing decisions with FRRouting/OSPF. The study shows the tension between session robustness and effective exploitation of multiple paths.

Results and scope

The evaluation shows that MPTCP can maintain sessions in the face of route changes, although ECMP alone does not guarantee that subflows use truly diverse paths. The results identify the interaction between routing, handovers and congestion control as a key factor to take advantage of multipath transport in LEO.

Link with BoND1

The publication fits with BoND1 for its focus on LEO satellite connectivity, scalable emulation and IoT/6G services that require continuity under mobility, handovers and rapid topology changes.
